The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa had big plans for their new Presidential Village Student Activity Center. From the front, the building has a grand, subtly curved entrance and modern details. But it’s easy to see the center of activity lit from above because of the massive metal framed skylight from Crystal Structures that rests on the roof behind the facade.
Original plans included a rock wall that would go beyond the rooftop – 39 feet tall to be exact. To accommodate the large rock wall and light up the entire room a metal framed skylight almost 36′ across and 94′ long was designed for
the rooftop. The overall daylighting effect is efficient and dramatic. CSI Code 08 63 00
